Lesson Plans for Teachers
Are you a teacher seeking a fresh way to teach writing, especially as you guide students over Zoom? Are you a parent trying to help your teenagers pass grammar tests, write high school papers, and craft college application essays? Are you homeschooling your child and desperate for sturdy lessons that pack a little levity? I want to help you. I’ve created two suites of lessons plans to accompany Sin and Syntax. They are envisioned to take you through two separate semester-long courses (see below). The lesson plans offer options for students of varying ages. The e-book, published in August 2019, is available for $6.99 on multiple platforms:
The first of the two semester-long courses focuses on grammar and writing. It is suitable for high school, college, and professional-level students. The second suite focuses more on the “Music” section of Sin and Syntax, encouraging more advanced writers to explore their own voices and to experiment with literary devices like metaphor, melody, and rhythm.

The modest fee for the e-book is intended to make the lesson plans available inexpensively to teachers while paying for some of the hard costs to produce them. If you would like to print the handouts in the e-book for your students, you can download them and do so.
I recognize that some teachers would prefer a good old-fashioned book to an e-book. I have printed out a few hard copies of the e-book material, as an 8.5″ x 11″ spiral-bound workbook. It will stand on your bookshelf, it will flop open on your desk, it will fold easily so you can reproduce handouts and quizzes. My cost to print it is $25. I can mail it to you at book rate. If you’re interested, please email me at connie@sinandsyntax.com.
There are also posts in "Talking School," the teachers portion of the website.
Keep doing the wonderful work you do in teaching writing and let me know if there are additional resources I can help you with. I so respect what you do.
The digital book is available at various outlets for $6.99.
